Nexen Tire is expanding its original equipment (OE) supply to Kia, fitting its Roadian GTX to the model-year-change hybrid version of the Sorento midsize SUV, according to the company’s Korean-language announcement dated Sept. 28, 2026. The release headline identifies the vehicle as the 2027 model-year Sorento.
A new 20-inch size alongside the existing 17-inch fitment
The new element for this model year is a 20-inch Roadian GTX. Together with the 17-inch size that Nexen was already supplying, two Roadian GTX sizes are now fitted to the Sorento Hybrid. The existing 17-inch size continues on vehicles sold in Korea and North America, while the new 20-inch size is fitted to vehicles sold in the Korean market.
An all-season tire built around SUVs
The Roadian GTX is an all-season tire developed and optimized for the characteristics of SUVs. Nexen says it offers strong braking, snow performance and treadwear warranty performance while balancing quietness and ride comfort.
A special compound is designed to perform consistently across changing temperatures, providing strong braking and a comfortable ride regardless of season. A zigzag tread pattern spreads ground pressure effectively and minimizes pulling while driving. Enhanced mileage performance extends the replacement cycle, which Nexen says meets the durability and efficiency required of a hybrid SUV.
The Roadian GTX has previously been supplied as OE on SUVs from Korean and global brands, including the Kia EV5 and EV6, the Renault Filante and the Jeep Cherokee.
Growing OE partnerships
Nexen plans to use the expanded supply as a foundation to further strengthen its partnerships with global automakers across the Korean and North American markets. The company supplies OE tires to global premium brands including Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi and says it continues to broaden its OE business with automakers in Korea and abroad.
“This OE supply expansion shows that our products’ outstanding technology and quality continue to be recognized in the global market,” a Nexen Tire official said. “We will keep strengthening cooperation with global automakers and continue to increase our OE tire supply.”
