HWA AG’s EVO.R race car will make its Goodwood Festival of Speed debut this week, tackling the legendary Goodwood hillclimb course. Fresh from competing in the 2026 ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring, the HWA EVO.R will be visible in the Ballroom Paddock, and driven by racing driver Luca Ludwig in the event's celebrated Shootout.

With the roadgoing HWA EVO making a star appearance in the New Classics Paddock too, the Goodwood Festival of Speed marks the start of a summer of high-profile global showcases for HWA, with further appearances planned across the coming months, including Monterey Car Week in August.

Visitors to Goodwood will get to see the EVO.R #62 – wearing the Kärcher/Sonax livery, and unwashed since the gruelling 24 hour race - take part in a total of seven high-speed hill runs over the course of the four-day, 9-12th July event. These will include multiple practice runs and Shootout Qualifying on Saturday, culminating in the Shootout Final on the last day of the festival.

The HWA EVO R limited run track car

The EVO.R is the pure motorsport expression of HWA’s EVO. Three EVO.Rs competed in the experimental ‘SP-X’ class at the recent Nürburgring 2026 ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring, with all three finishing the race. Car #62, which will be appearing at Goodwood, was driven Adam Adelson, two-time ADAC GT Masters Champions Sebastian Asch and Luca Ludwig, as well as three-time N24 winner and FIA GT1 World Champion, Markus Winkelhock.

Now, the company is building a limited production run of fifteen track-only variants, the HWA EVO R, which share their core architecture with the HWA EVO.R race car appearing on the hill this week.

Optimal balance is achieved thanks to the HWA EVO's existing front-mid-engined architecture and transaxle layout, while six-way adjustable racing suspension –developed in collaboration with KW and H&R – and AP Racing competition brakes promote absolute confidence and control.

The HWA-developed 3.0-litre V6 bi-turbo engine has been uprated to deliver approximately 560 PS and 670 Nm of torque, managed by a Bosch Motorsport ECU and operated via a six-speed sequential transmission. In addition to the full carbon fibre skin of the HWA EVO road car, the track variant features a motorsports body kit with widened front and rear arches and a revised bonnet, NACA-air intakes, polycarbonate windows, removable rear doors and bespoke RONAL lightweight racing wheels.

A moveable pedal box and specially developed full-carbon racing seat provide an optimal driving position for a wide range of drivers, while the reinforced monocoque chassis, FIA-homologated roll cage and fuel cell ensures cutting-edge safety. Additional features include an integrated four-airjack system, a racing exhaust and the option for a drinks system, passenger seat, air conditioning and a 24h lighting package.

Each HWA EVO R customer car is supported by HWA's turn-key customer support programme, with owners benefitting from access to expert technicians, a dedicated parts service and invitations to exclusive events at every stage of their ownership. Each car is produced to order, with a range of option packages available, including the Langstreckenpaket endurance package, a Starter Kit, and an Electronic Kit.

Background on HWA EVO and HWA EVO.R

First unveiled in 2023 and now in production, the HWA EVO road car is a faithful reinterpretation of the Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evo II. With nearly all components newly developed by HWA's team of over 275 specialists in Affalterbach, the HWA EVO combines the silhouette of the 1990s original with modern engineering and motorsport derived technology, in a limited 100-car production run.

Such is the motorsport DNA of the HWA EVO that relatively few modifications were required to create a competitive racing machine. Updates to the HWA EVO.R have primarily focused on safety and endurance, with the addition of an FIA-standard safety cage, homologated racing seat and six-point harness, fire extinguisher system, and a track-focused aerodynamics package. The HWA EVO R customer car is a further development of this concept, produced for clients to use on track rather than in competition.
