Hankook will produce truck and bus tires in Europe for the first time from October 2026 at its expanded plant in Rácalmás, Hungary. The company invested €540 million in the new line, which is set up for more than 800,000 units a year, and unveiled the first pre-production tire at IAA Transportation.
“The expansion of our European production plant with a new line for truck and bus tyres is yet another key milestone for Hankook in Europe,” said Jongho Park, president and COO of Hankook Tire Europe. “The central location of the facilities in Hungary and their proximity to the core European markets is a key locational advantage.”
Until now, Hankook made TBR tires for Europe in Korea and China. Local production is intended to shorten deliveries, strengthen supply security, and cut logistics CO₂. Europe accounts for about 45% of Hankook’s global sales. The company says the project creates more than 450 local jobs and adds highly automated manufacturing with AGVs and real-time tracking. Initial focus is 22.5-inch truck and bus sizes, with broader coverage as capacity and approvals grow.
