As part of Goodyear's 100th anniversary celebration, history was made over the skies of Los Angeles as the Goodyear Blimp, Wingfoot Three, teamed up with GameStop to host the world's first Pokémon battle 1,000 feet above the city.

At the center of this aerial showdown was famed YouTuber Casey Neistat, who took the battle sky-high using pioneering technologist Palmer Luckey's passion project: ModRetro's Chromatic handheld gaming console.

Joining the battle as special guest trainers were the Oculus VR founder Palmer Luckey, ModRetro CEO and co-founder Torin Herndon, and Head of Social Media for GameStop, Joe Fonicello.

The photos and videos – and winners - from these historic bouts were shared on @gamestop, @goodyearblimp and @caseyneistat social channels following the content capture.

This collaboration is part of the Goodyear Blimp 100th anniversary celebration taking place throughout 2025. While the official anniversary date was on June 3, 2025, blimp fans can look forward to exciting appearances and collaborations all year long.
