The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., is pleased to announce that a car running on its ADVAN global flagship brand tires was the winner in the SP-X class* and finished fifth overall at this year’s ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring (hereafter, the Nürburgring 24-Hour Race), which was held on May 14–17 in Germany.
* The SP-X class is for special high-performance experimental vehicles or vehicles with special modifications that do not fall under other classes, such as the SP9 class featuring production cars that meet the FIA-GT3 specifications. The SP-X class contributes to the development and validation of the latest technologies and concept cars.
The SP-X class winner was the No. 81 BMW M3 Touring 24H entered by BMW M Motorsport, which has a partnership with Yokohama Rubber. The BMW M3 Touring 24H is a car for the fans at the Nürburgring, with whom BMW M Motorsport has a very special relationship. The BMW M3 Touring 24H shares the same technical basis as the BMW M4 GT3 EVO, but its body shell is the same as that used on the BMW M3 Touring. The No.81 BMW M3 Touring 24H started the Nürburgring 24-Hour Race in 22nd place but quickly moved up into the leading group of cars. Thereafter, No. 81 stayed among the leaders for the rest of the race, with the team’s drivers stably maintaining high speeds and trouble-free driving, winning the SP-X class and finishing fifth place overall amidst the leaders in SP9 class cars.
Two other cars racing on Yokohama Rubber’s ADVAN tires finished in the top 10 overall. Haupt Racing Team’s No. 67 Ford Mustang GT3 EVO (2026) (entrant: HRT Ford Racing) finished in eighth place, followed in ninth place by BMW M Motorsport’s No.77 BMW M4 GT3 EVO (entrant: Schubert Motorsport). These strong results in a grueling 24-hour race at Nürburgring, one of the world’s most challenging race circuits, are once again a testament to the superior performance of Yokohama Rubber’s ADVAN racing tires.
In addition to BMW M Motorsport and Haupt Racing Team, Yokohama Rubber supplied its ADVAN racing tires to the car entered by KONDO RACING in this year’s Nürburgring 24-Hours, and the Company is supporting the same three teams in this year’s Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS) that began in March. BMW M Motorsport’s No.77 BMW M4 GT3 EVO won Round 3 of the NLS this past April, and Yokohama Rubber looks forward to victories by teams it is partnering with in many NLS races this season.
The consumer tire strategy in Yokohama Rubber’s three-year (2024–2026) medium-term management plan, Yokohama Transformation 2026 (YX2026), aims to maximize the sales ratios of high-value-added tires by expanding sales of YOKOHAMA’s global flagship ADVAN brand, the GEOLANDAR brand of tires for SUVs and pickup trucks, winter tires, and 18-inch and larger tires. Yokohama Rubber positions participation in motorsports activities as crucial to its effort to further strengthen the ADVAN and GEOLANDAR brands. Yokohama Rubber therefore is again participating in a wide variety of motorsports events around the globe, from top-category to grassroots events.
