Yokohama Tire Corporation has notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that it is voluntarily recalling two sizes of the GEOLANDAR M/T G003 light-truck tire line. The LT245/75R16 120/116Q and LT285/70R17 121/118Q were manufactured at Yokohama's Mie Plant in Japan between May 31, 2026, and June 6, 2026. A total of 610 GEOLANDAR M/T G003 tires are believed to be affected.
Yokohama said the tires may have been manufactured with an improper compound in the sidewall. Reduced adhesion may cause carcass-ply separation, air leakage, or rapid air loss. Loss of inflation pressure can reduce vehicle control and increase crash risk.
On its recall page, Yokohama said it has determined that a safety defect exists in the affected tires and that certain Yokohama light-truck tires fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 49 CFR 571.139. Both sizes are Load Range E. The LT245/75R16 carries Yokohama part number 110133312, with a DOT TIN that begins with 1FBA3 YTHK and ends with 2226. The LT285/70R17 carries part number 110133320, with a DOT TIN that begins with 1FB7L YTHK and ends with 2226.
Remedy
Yokohama will replace affected tires free of charge with tires of comparable value, including mounting and balancing. If a single tire needs to be replaced, the company will allow both tires on the axle to be replaced with new Yokohama tires. For a dual assembly, it will allow both tires in the dual assembly to be replaced.
Owners who choose replacement tires from another manufacturer instead of Yokohama tires will be offered a pro-rated tread depth credit of the original purchase price. Yokohama also said that, in addition to regular warranty claim handling allowances, a $30 per tire mounting allowance will be credited.
The company asked owners to contact a Yokohama tire dealer as soon as possible so replacement tires can be ordered. It said the labor time to perform the service is about one hour. If a dealer does not complete the remedy within three days, Yokohama asked owners to contact customer service at 1-800-722-9888 or recall@yokohamatire.com.
Owners who already paid to replace a tire for this condition may be eligible for reimbursement by contacting Yokohama customer service. More information is on Yokohama's Mie ply separation recall page and its recalls page. The company announced the action in a Nov. 5, 2026, newsroom notice.
If owners believe they have not been able to have a tire remedied without charge and within a reasonable time, they may contact NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236 or visit safercar.gov.
