American Honda is recalling 4,804 vehicles because some replacement tire repair kits installed under an earlier recall still contain the original, uncorrected parts.

The new campaign covers 2023–2026 Accord Hybrid and CR-V Hybrid models and the 2025 CR-V e:FCEV. According to the Part 573 safety recall report Honda filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the CR-V Hybrid makes up the largest share, at 2,745 units, followed by 2,058 Accord Hybrids and a single CR-V e:FCEV. Honda estimates about 1% of the population has the defect.

What can go wrong

The flat-tire repair kit uses a nozzle with a one-way valve. If a driver runs the kit with the nozzle not properly connected to the tire valve, pressure can build inside the sealant bottle. Should the relief valve fail to vent that pressure, the bottle cap could come off, raising the risk of injury.

How the wrong parts got out

Honda says the problem traces to its supplier's handling of remedy parts for an earlier recall, NHTSA recall 26V-366. The supplier lacked adequate change-point controls for disposing of pre-countermeasure parts, so old and corrected components were mixed in its warehouse and some old parts were shipped. As a result, some vehicles ended up with kits containing the original components.

The fix

Registered owners will be notified by mail and asked to visit an authorized Honda dealer, which will inspect the kit and replace the nozzle as needed. The replacement nozzle does not have a one-way valve. Dealer notification was scheduled for on or about Oct. 9, 2026, with owner letters set for on or about Nov. 16, 2026.

For tire dealers and service shops, the takeaway is that a Honda vehicle already serviced under the first repair kit recall may still need a dealer visit. Owners can check their vehicle identification number with NHTSA or Honda's recall lookup.
