Goodyear announced it was recognized by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles during their annual Supplier Conference on Monday, December 14. Recognizing Goodyear’s dedicated commitment to corporate responsibility, FCA awarded the company the Sustainability Supplier of the Year Award.
The award was delivered during a digital award ceremony hosted by Monica Genovese, Head of EMEA FCA Group Purchasing.
The company was chosen from a short list of approximately 50 suppliers, making it to a group of three finalists. Goodyear was ultimately selected as the winner following an in-depth assessment by FCA’s Global Sustainability Team of the projects and processes the company applied in 2020 for Corporate Social Responsibility and sustainability. Notably, FCA called out Goodyear’s efforts to reduce energy through zero-loss thinking and equipment efficiency and in implementing strategies in the workplace to prevent chronic health conditions.
“We are honored to have received this prestigious award from FCA,” said Hans Vrijsen, Managing Director OE, Consumer EMEA at Goodyear, “it is a recognition not only of Goodyear’s commitment to corporate responsibility, but also of the strategic relationships that we have nurtured with leading automotive manufacturers across the EMEA region.”
FCA EMEA is an important strategic partner for Goodyear, with several new nominations secured on strategic platforms in 2020, including full electric and hybrid propulsion models in addition to traditional combustion engine models.
“In 2017 Goodyear received the ‘Supplier Chassis of the Year’ from FCA. The sustainability supplier award is the second award we have received from FCA EMEA in 3 years. We are very happy to be seen as a reference tire supplier by FCA and look forward to further building our partnership going forward,” Vrijsen concluded.
