Yokohama’s tough new Geolandar available from April

Yokohama Rubber has unveiled a tough new addition to its series of Geolandar brand tires for SUVs.

The new Geolandar A/T G015 all-terrain tire for SUVs will be available in sizes ranging from 15 inches to 20 inches and will be rolled out on April 1.

According to Yokohama, the Geolandar A/T G015 was developed to support the active vehicle lifestyle of drivers by “delivering superior performance on any road surface, under any weather condition.”

The company points to the use of an optimized tread pattern and new compound that increases the tire’s wear performance and traction performance on wet and snow-covered roads.

“The Geolandar A/T G015 delivers outstanding traction in any condition, both on road and off,” said Yokohama senior director of tire business planning, product planning and sales operations Andrew Briggs. “It’s the toughest and most versatile Geolandar yet and it’s built to last, providing some of the best mileage in the industry.”

Line size covers almost all pickups and SUVs

The G015 meets the Rubber Manufacturers Association’s severe snow service criterion and is stamped with the mountain/snowflake symbol. Its limited treadwear warranties are 60,000 miles for P/E-metric and 50,000 miles for LT-metric sizes.

Yokohama says its exclusive orange oil compound and advanced tread design combine to provide superior handling and road grip for “ultimate all-season traction” and its updated size lineup covers 96 percent of the market for today’s pickups and SUVs.

Geolandar is Yokohama’s global SUV tire brand. Responding to the rising popularity of SUVs in recent years, Yokohama has accelerated the development and launch of new tires in the Geolandar series.

In July 2015 the company released Geolandar H/T G056, a highway-terrain tire for midsize and large SUVs. Other tires in the series include the Geolandar SUV for small and midsize urban crossover SUVs, the Geolandar M/T+ for off-road use, and the Geolandar I/T-S studless tire.
