Uniroyal trailer tire wins SmartWay verification

Uniroyal’s LT40 long-haul/regional, class-8 trailer tire has been awarded SmartWay verification by the Environmental Protection Agency.

The verification means the tire reduces rolling resistance sufficiently to provide a fuel economy and emissions reduction benefit. The LT40 is the third Uniroyal tire to receive the verification, following the LS24 long-haul steer tire and the RS20 regional steer/all-position tire.

Uniroyal’s business segment manager for commercial truck tires Darlene Shepherd said: “Uniroyal products have been recognized by the U.S. EPA for low rolling resistance technology. The LT40 gives customers a choice when they select a commercial product that reduces emissions and improves fuel efficiency.”

Michelin, which owns Uniroyal, says the LT40 “combats irregular trailer tire wear for long-lasting performance.” It’s available in sizes 11R22.5, 11R24.5, 275/80R22.5 and 275/80R24.5. The tire is designed with StoneBlocker technology to protect the casing.

Big year for Uniroyal releases

The Uniroyal tire portfolio for heavy trucks, launched in January 2016, comprises six tread designs with 28 total offers. Here is Uniroyal’s spec sheet.

Uniroyal has tires for a variety of trucks, from long-haul to regional to on- and off-road trucks, including dry van, flatbed, construction, and pick-up and delivery vocations. All Uniroyal tires are retreadable.
