The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has announced that TIA Online University, its established online training platform for tire service technicians, will transition to Today's Class in early 2027. The announcement was made in conjunction with the Global Tire Expo at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

TIA says the move will keep access to its existing online training courses while adding further learning resources and app-based access for users.

Building on foundational training

For years, TIA Online U has given technicians foundational online training in tire service. Through the partnership with Today's Class, TIA plans to build on that foundation with additional educational resources and professional development opportunities, helping tire businesses make ongoing learning a more accessible part of employee training.

The association describes the transition as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting members and the wider tire industry through education, training and safety as tire technology and service practices continue to evolve.

"For decades, TIA has helped tire technicians develop the knowledge and skills needed to perform their jobs safely and effectively," said Christine Hoogenboom, TIA Director of Training. "This transition allows us to build on that legacy while giving our users access to additional learning opportunities through Today's Class. We're excited about the benefits this partnership will bring to our members."

Complementing hands-on certification

TIA Online U will complement the association's existing hands-on training and certification programs, giving professionals another way to build and reinforce their knowledge between formal training opportunities. TIA notes that online coursework does not replace applicable hands-on instruction or certification requirements.

"Training has the greatest impact when people can apply what they learn to their everyday work," said David Boyes of Today's Class. "By combining TIA's industry expertise with the Today's Class learning platform, we're helping tire businesses make ongoing education part of their employees' professional development."

What comes next

The transition to Today's Class is planned for early 2027. TIA says details on platform access, enrollment, pricing and available resources will be shared as the transition approaches.

TIA, with a 105-year history representing all segments of the national and international tire industry, is the recognized authority for tire service technician training and certification and has trained more than 220,000 industry professionals since 1997.
