ATD becomes Nokian Tyres’ first national distributor in the United States

Nokian Tyres and American Tire Distributors (ATD) have announced a distribution partnership to serve tire dealers throughout the United States. The program, Nokian Tyres’ first-ever nationwide distribution agreement, gives the company access to ATD’s extensive network, which includes more than 110 distribution centers across the United States serving approximately 80,000 customers.

The partnership aligns two respected industry leaders that each have 90 years of history. The relationship allows ATD to supply tire shops more efficiently than ever with Nokian Tyres’ full lineup of all-season, all-weather, all-terrain and winter tires, allowing dealers to deepen or expand their product offerings.

“The relationship with ATD supports our strategy to establish national distribution of our extensive Nokian Tyres product portfolio,” said Nokian Tyres Senior Vice President Chris Ostrander. “By capitalizing on our local manufacturing capacity in Dayton, Tennessee, Nokian Tyres can support ATD’s network with our quality products, expanding the distribution of our premium brand that is a leader in safety, innovation and sustainability.”

“We’re excited to welcome Nokian Tyres to the ATD portfolio,” said Ira B. Silver, President & Chief Executive Officer at American Tire Distributors. “This addition reflects our ongoing commitment to providing our customers with access to the most trusted and forward-thinking brands in the industry. Nokian Tyres’ dedication to quality and sustainability aligns perfectly with our values and the evolving needs of today’s drivers.”

ATD and Nokian Tyres both have nine decades of tradition in the tire industry. The Finland-based tiremaker invented the winter tire in 1934, while ATD began operations in 1935. Both have strong legacies of service – Nokian Tyres as a global pioneer of driving safety, and ATD as a trusted partner to independent tire dealers, auto repair shops, dealerships and national retail chains.

“The partnership with ATD enables us to reach more tire shops and more drivers than ever before,” Ostrander continued. “ATD’s robust distribution network, customer service and responsiveness strengthen our agility to serve both new and existing customers.”

Nokian Tyres continues to grow its presence in North America. The inventor of the winter and all-weather passenger tires, the company operates an award-winning factory in Dayton, Tennessee that serves the U.S. and Canadian markets. Brand Finance named Nokian Tyres the fastest-growing tire brand in the world in its May 2025 report.

ATD’s recent investments in supply chain automation, regional inventory optimization and tech-driven last-mile delivery services are designed to improve tire availability, reduce operating costs, and protect the distributor’s competitive edge, providing customers access to the right tire, at the right time, at the right price.
