STTC expands into the Bronx with TSS acquisition

Pennsylvania-based Service Tire Truck Centers (STTC) has expanded its presence in the tristate area, buying out Bronx-based Tire Supply Solutions.

Tire Supply Solutions has been servicing the New York borough for the past seven years and owner Stephen Picciochi has more than 47 years’ experience in the tire industry.

The acquisition means the Tire Supply Solutions shop can fill what has until now been a geographical void in STTC’s service offering. The new location will offer a full line of products and services to customers in the New York tristate market.

STTC rewarded its Avenel (New Jersey) operations manager, Leo DaSilva, by making him branch manager at the new Bronx site.

STTC chairman Walt Dealtrey said, “STTC continues to evolve to better meet our customers’ demands and provide opportunities for our employees through the company’s growth.”

STTC’s long history of growth

In February, in a long interview with Traction News, Dealtrey spoke about the STTC’s unceasing growth strategy. At the time the company had just purchased All Time Tire in New Jersey. In the last 30 years, STTC has added, on average, one new location every year and Dealtrey said he envisaged the company would continue in the same vein — with slow, steady growth through various acquisitions within its current footprint.

“When we acquire someone, it needs to be a win-win-win (for former owner, the employees, and STTC),” he said. “About a third of our locations were not business purchases, they were where we just started a location from scratch.

“We would have a void in our service area or we had a customer that needed better service in an area we didn’t service so we found a building, hired people, bought trucks and inventory and worked to grow the business.”
STTC is celebrating its sixtieth year in business this year. The company has more than 40 locations in eight states. An independent dealer, it sells Michelin, BF Goodrich, Goodyear, Kelly Springfield, Yokohama and Cooper new tires.

It also operates three Michelin Retread Technology plants, producing more than 1,000 tires a day, amongst other retread offerings.
