Retread completes Bridgestone’s Bandag trailer range

Bridgestone Commercial has released a new Bandag TR4.1 trailer retread designed for longer wear.

The company said the TR4.1 was a durable retread that “provides affordable and dependable wear life performance.”

The retread is available for small-to-medium trucks, less-than-truckload and pick-up and delivery fleets. It comes in 190mm, 200mm, 210mm, 220mm, 230mm and 240mm casing sizes, each with an 11/32 tread depth.

Bridgestone Commercial’s director of Bandag marketing, Ben Rosenblum said when fleets are shopping for trailer tread options they “often have to choose between low cost and functionality.”

“The TR4.1 retread rounds out the Bandag portfolio line for trailer applications, offering a balance of price and performance,” he said.

The company claims the retread’s features include a smooth and continuous shoulder to promote uniform wear, Bandag’s long-wearing tread compound, circumferential grooves to help evacuate water and improve traction in the wet, and diagonal tread block edges to promote traction in both wet and dry conditions.

20 percent longer wear life on B760 FuelTech

Bandag has almost double the market share of its nearest competitor in the U.S. retread market. The release of the TR4.1 comes four months after Bridgestone Commercial released the Bandag B760 FuelTech — a premium retread designed for tandem axle tractors in truckload and less-than-truckload applications.

That retread is EPA SmartWay verified and California Air Resources Board compliant. Rosenblum said at the time of the retread’s release in July that it offered “a balance between tread life, traction and fuel efficiency.”

“Due to its advanced tread design and proprietary compound, this product delivers up to 20 percent longer wear life when compared to the ultra-fuel efficient Bandag B710 FuelTech retread,” he said.

“Combined with dense siping for traction and fuel efficiency benefits, the B760 FuelTech retread is a smart solution for fleets focused on lowering their total operating costs.”

Bridgestone Commercial, based in Tennessee, is a division of Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, which owns and develops the Bandag retreads brand.

The company has a series of videos on their website that explain the retread process step by step.
