The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company reported third quarter 2026 net sales of $4.5 billion, down 2.3% from a year earlier, and a Goodyear net loss of $238 million. The company also said it has set up a dedicated transformation office to speed up work on improving structural returns and cash generation.

Quarter at a glance

Net sales: $4.5 billion, down 2.3% year over year. After adjusting for $177 million tied to the sales of the Chemical business and the Dunlop brand, organic net sales rose 1.6% on price and mix, partly offset by lower volume.
Tire units: 38.6 million, down 3.3%. Weaker replacement demand was partly offset by higher original equipment volume from market share gains.
Net result: a Goodyear net loss of $238 million, or $0.82 per share, compared with a net loss of $2.2 billion, or $7.62 per share, a year earlier. The quarter included pre-tax rationalization charges of $148 million.
Adjusted result: an adjusted net loss of $31 million, or $0.11 per share, compared with adjusted net income of $82 million, or $0.28 per share, in the third quarter of 2025.
Segment operating income: $174 million, compared with $287 million a year earlier.
Product mix: tires 18 inches and above made up 44% of sales volumes, up from 39% a year ago.

Adjusting for the Chemical and Dunlop sales, segment operating income fell $57 million. Goodyear put that down to lower volume of $77 million, inflation of $69 million and higher tariffs and other costs of $48 million, partly offset by $90 million in Goodyear Forward benefits and $76 million from favorable price and mix versus raw material costs.

"While our third quarter results reflected meaningful sequential earnings improvement, our financial performance remains below our expectations. We've made real progress in strengthening our product portfolio and optimizing our manufacturing footprint. But as challenging industry conditions persist, incremental improvements alone won't get us to where we need to be," said Mark Stewart, Goodyear's chief executive officer and president. "To get there, we've established a dedicated transformation office to pursue broader operational and strategic opportunities and to drive structural changes that will allow the business to generate more consistent free cash flow."

Americas

Americas net sales were $2.7 billion ($2,675 million), 2.3% lower than a year ago, mainly because of the Chemical business sale. Tire units were flat at 19.6 million. Replacement units fell 2.2%, while OE units rose 8.7% on market share gains. Segment operating income was $96 million, down from $206 million, for a margin of 3.6% against 7.5%. Excluding the Chemical sale, the segment's operating income fell $76 million on factory utilization, inflation and other costs, partly offset by Goodyear Forward benefits.

EMEA

EMEA net sales fell 3.7% to $1.4 billion ($1,355 million), reflecting the Dunlop brand sale and lower volume. Tire units dropped 6.7% to 11.1 million. Replacement units fell 11.3% on soft consumer demand and planned SKU rationalization, while OE units rose 5.5%, which Goodyear said marks the 11th straight quarter of consumer market share gains. Segment operating income was $12 million, down $18 million. Excluding the Dunlop sale, it rose $5 million.

Asia Pacific

Asia Pacific net sales rose 1.8% to $510 million on price and mix. Tire units fell 6.0% to 7.9 million, with replacement down 8.2% on planned SKU rationalization and OE down 3.9%, mainly in China. Segment operating income rose $15 million to $66 million.
