Goodyear is introducing two new digital innovations to help OTR fleets to reduce their total cost of ownership.

Following the launch of Goodyear Proactive Solutions for truck fleets in 2016, Goodyear is extending its digital operations management system to Off-the-Road vehicles. Goodyear Proactive Solutions TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) Heavy Duty is a data-based solution enabling precise, real-time monitoring of tires that, in combination with Goodyear premium tires and services, will help OTR fleets optimize tire performance, reduce downtime and improve total cost of ownership. Goodyear TPMS Heavy Duty prevents tire-related incidents; resulting in reduced machine down time and less breakdown costs. It features advanced telematics and patented predictive analytics technology, able to monitor tire pressure and temperature and to notify operators on potential issues before they happen. This enables immediate action to be taken to avoid damage and downtime. Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) sensors mounted inside the tires constantly monitor tire pressure and temperature, and transmit this information via on-board telematics to a Goodyear server. Here the data is analyzed and operators notified of potential issues before they happen. The data is further provided to predict tire life and plan maintenance.

Goodyear is also launching an enhanced version of its EMTrack OTR tire performance monitoring system. The significantly enhanced EMTrack system enables faster, even more accurate collection of critical tire data like tread depth, inflation levels and other indicators, helping optimize tire service life, as well as assisting with OTR tire forecasting and budgeting.

“Recent advances in connectivity give us the ability to help our customers optimize their tires usage and cut their costs. OTR machines operate in some of the most hostile environments and tires are an essential part of them. Goodyear Proactive Solutions TPMS Heavy Duty, for example, can help prevent tire inflation loss which is very common. A tire that is 50% under-inflated can reduce tire life by 72%,” said David Anckaert, Vice President Goodyear Commercial Tires Europe. “Goodyear Proactive Solutions TPMS Heavy Duty provides real-time temperature and pressure monitoring. This information is then used by the Goodyear predictive algorithms to predict tire life. This new solution means peace of mind for our OTR customers and helps ensure a much greater return on investment from tires.”

Goodyear Proactive Solutions is now available in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. Goodyear has not yet confirmed availability in the United States.

The Goodyear EMTrack is available for construction, mining, quarry and port operations, worldwide.
