Nokian Tires' $360 million facility in Dayton, Tennessee is on schedule to fully launch in 2020, with nearly half of the total investment flowing into the local economy. The plant will eventually create up to 400 new jobs in Rhea County but before the first tire rolls off the line, countless construction hours will be required.

This past spring, Nokian Tires began to move office trailers on-site, allowing a growing number of employees to settle in and be a part of the action. There are only a handful of employees based in Dayton at this time, but locals may notice the nearly 260 contractors who have moved into the area for construction – supporting local restaurants, hotels and businesses, while also lifting housing and rentals.

"The scale of the Nokian Tires' project has created immediate, positive impact on the community and local businesses,” Nathaniel Eastwood, Chief operating officer of Van Meter Hotel, said “We look forward to the additional long-term growth potential this project offers for Rhea County.”

Construction progress will continue throughout the summer with construction of the production building, the largest and most complex area on the site, is now fully underway. Before summer ends, walls for critical sections will be erected and the true scale of the state-of-the-art facility will start to show.
