A lot of our year happens at a distance. Emails, calls, screens, software. That work matters. You can learn a lot about a business from a message. You learn something different when the other person is standing there with you.

That is what SEMA means to us as an exhibitor. The booth is how we show up. The reason we show up is the conversation.

For more than two decades we have come to the show, set up, and spent the week talking. Partners stop by. Clients we have worked with for years come back to catch up. People we have never met walk in with a problem they have been carrying around, and we get to talk it through without a calendar invite standing between us.

Those conversations are rarely just a product walkthrough. People tell you what is actually happening in their business: where demand is moving, what is slowing them down, what they need from a supplier or a software partner next. You hear it in their voice. You can ask the next question while it still matters. That kind of talk is hard to fake, and it is hard to replace.

Coming to SEMA has been good for our business because of that. Not because a show floor does the work for you, but because this industry still runs on relationships, and SEMA is one of the few weeks when almost everyone is in the same building. Dealers, distributors, manufacturers, builders, and the companies that support them. You can meet the people who shape how tires move through the market, in person, in a few days.

Some of those meetings are planned. Many of the useful ones are not. Someone you have emailed for months is suddenly there. A partner introduces you to a customer. A hello turns into a clearer picture of an opportunity you would have missed from a desk. The show compresses a year of industry conversation into a handful of days, and if you are paying attention, you leave with a better sense of where the business is going.

I spend a lot of the show doing exactly that: talking. Sometimes that is at our booth. Sometimes it is in a hallway, or in front of a camera, answering questions and listening to what the person across from me is seeing in their own business. The setting changes. The value does not. You are present, and so are they.

Our team comes with me because SEMA is not a one-person job. The booth is our way of saying we are here, we are listening, and we intend to be part of this industry for the long run. The line on the wall behind us is the work: software that moves tires. The week in the booth is how we stay close to the people that work is for.

After more than 20 years, the edges of the show have changed and the reason we exhibit has not. We come so we can hear what is going on with partners, with clients, and with people we have not worked with yet. Those conversations have opened doors. They have strengthened relationships we already had. They have pointed us toward new opportunities we would not have seen as clearly from a distance.

That is why we will be back. SEMA is still where this industry meets in person. For a company like ours, that is not a side benefit of exhibiting. It is the point.
