Purpose-built jaws give shops a reliable way to service reverse drop center commercial wheels—and unlock new revenue potential.

Coats has released new steel clamp jaws designed specifically for 17.5" and 19.5" standard and reverse drop center wheels—giving commercial and multi-service shops a safer, more secure way to handle these tough assemblies. Built for use with Coats Maxx tire changers, the new jaws make it easier to expand into light and medium-duty truck work without investing in a dedicated commercial machine. The new jaws feature a three-position adjustable design and are built entirely from steel to grip the wider bead profiles commonly found on 17.5" and 19.5" wheels. Their taller profile is tailored to accommodate reverse drop center wheels with high positive offsets, ensuring reliable clamping from the outside in—never from the inside out, which can compromise safety due to the conical shape of these types of wheels.

“These jaws are for shops that want to do commercial wheel work the right way,” said Kyle Harris, Senior Product Manager at Coats. “Without the right jaw profile to grip these wheels, you can’t properly clamp reverse drop center 17.5s or 19.5s. These jaws are purpose-built to grab the fat, commercial-grade lip and hold it securely through the full changeover process.”

In addition to expanding service capabilities, the steel jaws can serve as an all-purpose clamp for standard wheel service as well—though they don’t include the Grip Max™ protectors found in other Coats jaws. A corrosion-resistant zinc coating rounds out the design for long-term durability in high-volume shop environments.

Whether you run an independent repair shop, a multi-location operation, or a national fleet service center, the addition of these jaws allows your existing Maxx tire changer machine to handle more jobs—helping you open new revenue streams without sacrificing shop space or uptime.
