The Tire Industry Association (TIA) is making it even easier for shop owners and technicians to advocate for their right to repair with the introduction of a new QR code for its “Right to Repair – Report Your Issue” webpage. This convenient tool allows users to quickly report instances where they encounter obstacles to diagnosing or repairing vehicles, ensuring that critical data is collected to support the ongoing fight for repair access.

With increasing reports of automakers restricting access to wired (OBD-II) and wireless (telematics) diagnostic and repair information, TIA is committed to documenting the real-world impact of these restrictions on businesses, consumers, and the broader economy. By reporting these challenges, industry professionals can help drive meaningful legislative action to protect repair rights.

Why the Right to Repair Reporting Tool Matters

The reporting form collects key details on repair challenges, including:

Vehicle specifics: Make, model, and year.
Maintenance attempt details: Type of repair performed and accessibility of diagnostic codes.
Barriers encountered: Lack of necessary tools, unavailable OEM documentation, refusal to sell parts, or required software updates.
Current vehicle status: Whether the repair was completed or if the vehicle remains inoperable.

TIA assures all users that submissions will remain confidential, with no identifying personal or business information disclosed when case studies are presented on Capitol Hill.

Act: Report Your Right to Repair Challenges

Industry professionals can now scan the QR code in their shop to access the reporting form instantly and contribute to the movement to protect repair access.
