A new AI wheel visualization platform called AR Rim Viz is aimed at a familiar problem in wheel retail: customers who cannot picture how a set of rims will look on their own vehicle. According to Robert McCain, founder of Dynamic Upgrade LLC in Chandler, Arizona, the platform lets shoppers see different rims and sizes on an actual vehicle before they buy.

How the visualizer works

McCain says shoppers can start straight away with sample vehicles, or create a free account and upload a photo of their own car. The company says AR Rim Viz re-renders the vehicle with the chosen rim fitted into the scene, rather than placing a flat wheel image over the photograph.

The AR Rim Viz site shows a before and after slider on a set of sample vehicles, including a Mercedes SLK350, a Ford Mustang and a BMW X5, and it includes an embedded demo video. McCain says shoppers can compare before and after images, try multiple wheel styles and finishes, and save their visualizations to revisit later. He also says uploaded photographs can be deleted at any time.

On sizes, McCain describes a range of 17 to 26 inches. The site lists 17, 18, 19, 20, 22, 24 and 26 inch options. According to the site, signing up for a free account brings three free credits.

What it means for dealers

McCain says AR Rim Viz also supports branded dealer storefronts and shareable customer sessions. The site has a section for dealers that describes branded storefronts and private share links. In his submission to Traction News, McCain pitches the tool as a way for retailers to work with customers who are not in the shop.

This gives tire and wheel dealers a potential way to help customers explore options remotely, reduce uncertainty and move into a sales conversation with a clearer idea of what they want.

Worth keeping in mind

The details above come from McCain's submission and from the company's own site. Traction News has not independently verified the claims. The site's terms describe the renders as AI generated visualizations and not a guarantee of fitment, so a shopper or dealer would still need to confirm that a wheel fits a vehicle before ordering.
