Freedom expands distribution footprint into San Diego

Freedom Tire Distributing’s expansion across southern California continues with the owner-operated company adding San Diego to its distribution footprint last week.

Corona-based Freedom has hired 30-year industry veteran Jeff Scott to head up the San Diego expansion. President and chief executive Tom Hofmann said: “Jeff brings a unique perspective to the job; he has worked distribution, but has also been a successful owner of a retail tire dealership.

“We feel this gives Jeff a great understanding of what our customers go through on a daily basis. This understanding will help grow our footprint in San Diego. We are fortunate to have someone of Jeff’s caliber to lead the charge into San Diego.”

The San Diego push marks the third phase of a three-year expansion plan for Freedom.
Two years ago the company bought and moved into a larger warehouse, doubling their capacity. Last year, they expanded service from Orange County into Los Angeles County. The company offers daily deliveries to all metro areas of southern California, including Orange, Riverside and San Bernadino counties and most of LA County as well as San Diego — and delivers to other areas on request.

Hofmann said Freedom hopes to begin opening additional warehouses within the next two years.

Freedom is Cooper’s largest distributor of Mastercraft and the Century associate dealer program in southern California. It also distributes Cooper, Starfire, Roadmaster, Nexen, Maxxis, Triangle, Forgiato, Zenna, Advanta, Powertrac, Kanati, Towmaster and Centennial. They also recently added Federal and Carlisle.
