CRC Industries is adding a new product to its Brakleen brake cleaner line and reformulating the red can that technicians have used for decades. The Horsham, Pa., company says CRC Brakleen Platinum Brake & Parts Cleaner and a reformulated CRC Brakleen Brake Parts Cleaner are being introduced at SEMA and AAPEX 2026.
CRC says the two formulas give automotive professionals options based on the cleaning job, formulation, flammability and where they work. The company points out that it pioneered the aerosol brake cleaner category more than 55 years ago.
Brakleen Platinum is an all-in-one cleaner
CRC describes Brakleen Platinum as a first-of-its-kind, non-chlorinated formula and its first all-in-one brake and parts cleaner. It has less than 10% VOC (volatile organic compounds), and CRC says it delivers 10x the cleaning power of leading low-VOC non-chlorinated formulas. The company says the fast-drying, residue-free formula helps technicians finish maintenance efficiently with fewer cans. According to CRC, Brakleen Platinum will be available across 49 states and Canada.
CEO Len Mazzanti said the product builds on the brand's history:
CRC pioneered the aerosol brake cleaner category with Brakleen more than 55 years ago, and we've continued to lead through innovation and performance ever since. CRC Brakleen Platinum represents the next step in that legacy to help technicians clean faster with fewer products.
Len Mazzanti, CEO of CRC Industries
The red can gets a new non-flammable formula
CRC says the reformulated Brakleen Brake Parts Cleaner (patent-pending) keeps its familiar red can but moves to a new non-flammable formula that delivers the performance technicians expect. The company says the premium formula is fast-drying and residue-free, meets regulatory requirements with less than 10% VOC, and is available in all 50 states. CRC says evolving regulations are behind the change.
Where to see it at SEMA and AAPEX
Both products are being shown at SEMA and AAPEX 2026. At SEMA, CRC is in Central Hall at booth 24677 and has an outdoor booth, 80027 in the Silver Lot, with live demonstrations of Brakleen Platinum. At AAPEX, the company is at booth V3610.
CRC will also host a 20-minute AAPEX session titled "Brake Cleaning Evolution: Driven by Safety, Health & Regulation" on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 1:30 p.m. PST. It takes place on AAPEX Stage 3 in the Underhood Section of Hall A, Level 2, at the Venetian Expo. Speakers are Louis Fresta, vice president of sales, Americas, and former president of the Automotive Sales Council; Mazzanti; and Rick Walsh, global marketing product director.
More about the company is available from CRC Industries, which also has a Brakleen brake cleaner page.
