The U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) announced that National Tire Safety Week 2018 will be May 21 – 28. The theme for 2018 will be “Know Your Roll,” which will educate consumers about proper tire care and maintenance, including the potential concerns with unsafe used tires.
“National Tire Safety week is the optimal time to remind motorists to check their tires to ensure they are safe for summer travel,” said Anne Forristall Luke, president and CEO of USTMA. “In addition to overall tire maintenance education, we are focusing efforts this year on the dangers of unsafe used tires to help consumers make an informed choice about tire replacement.”
Proper maintenance and periodic inspections by a tire professional to assess the condition is essential for optimum performance and service life of tires. For motorists who drive regularly, it’s recommended to conduct monthly inspections to spot any wear and tear.
