The Tire Industry Association will offer a 300 Level Certified Commercial Tire Service Tech course (CTS) to train and certify dealer and fleet technicians who need Occupational Safety and Health Administration compliance.
The first group of classes will take place in Louisville, Kentucky, on April 20-21, and April 27-28, from 8am to 5pm. TIA plans to offer another round of CTS classes in Chicago later in the year and will possibly hold a CTS Tech Training Tour in 2018, visiting cities all over the U.S.
The CTS course is designed for employees with at least one year’s hands-on experience in the workshop.
Students will be required to pass an exam and show proficiency when demonstrating various skills in the shop. When they have successfully completed the course they will receive a TIA Certificate of Completion, 13 uniform patches and a two-year subscription to the bi-monthly publication, Commercial Tire Service Today.
TIA director of training Christine Hoogenboom said: “We are excited to offer this Certified Tech course, as we typically only offer 400 Level Certified Instructor courses. Our goal is to reach dealers or fleets that only have a small number of techs that need to be certified and don’t have the resources to first send someone to a week-long class to become an instructor.”
Tuition is $395 for up to two attendees and $345 for three attendees or more. To download a registration form, please visit the TIA’s training website.
