SEMA: Cooper shows Zeon and Discoverer tires
Cooper Tire’s new Zeon RS3-G1 and Discoverer STT Pro 40” tires are in the spotlight at SEMA this week. The Zeon RS3-G1 is an all-season passenger car tire for high-performance vehicles and drivers, while the Discoverer STT Pro 40” is an off-road tire designed for those who love the outdoors.
The Zeon RS3-G1
Cooper’s Zeon RS3-G1 has a sleek, racing-inspired sidewall and a bunch of innovative features to create grip, stability and durability. Cooper says the tire has been designed with more rubber on the outside shoulder and intermediate rib to grip and provide stability during cornering maneuvers and to reduce tire noise. 3D full-depth sipes, which go deep into the tread elements, provide longer-lasting biting edges and help the tire tread blocks maintain a stable shape during acceleration, braking and cornering. And because they are full-depth, there are still sipes to provide biting edges for consistent performance, even when the tire is half-worn.
The Zeon RS3-G1 also features Cooper’s Wear Square – a visual indicator on the tire that enables drivers to quickly and easily assess the remaining tread life.
“The RS3-G1 is a marvel of Cooper’s greatest cutting-edge technologies,” said Cooper Tire director of product management North America Scott Jamieson. “We say this new tire gives high performance a ‘gut check’ because it redefines what it means to participate in that category at a higher level.
“The RS3-G1 ushers in a new era for Cooper in terms of delivering breakthrough product that among other critical benefits offers incredible grip, holding the road at up to 1g in tight corners with its wide, flat tread arc that creates a stable, square footprint on the road.”

The Discoverer STT Pro 40”
Cooper says its popular Discoverer STT Pro delivers serious traction, toughness and treadwear for the most challenging off-road conditions like thick mud and rocky terrain. Now available in 40”, the Discoverer STT Pro is all about reliability and durability; Armor-Tek3 construction adds strength to the sidewall and tread area, and mud release dimples and scoops prevent buildup and improve traction in super sloppy conditions.
Cooper says drivers who put on a set of Discoverer STT Pros for their off-road experiences won’t sacrifice quality in on-road driving because the tire is equipped with a new silica-infused tread compound that improves wet traction in day-to-day traffic and has lower rolling resistance for improved fuel mileage.
