What to expect at the NADA Show in New Orleans

Later this month New Orleans will welcome the National Automotive Dealers Association convention.

Thousands of auto industry professionals, including hundreds of exhibitors, will attend the event, which starts on January 26th and runs until January 29th.

While it is a wider industry convention there is plenty of interest to tire dealers, including exhibits from equipment suppliers like Myers and Hunter and potential partners like Alloy Wheel Repair.

Among those exhibiting is Tire Profiles Inc. The Texan tire tread depth and wheel alignment diagnostic tool company is showing its TreadSpec and Groove Glove mobile product line. The company says its products are designed to help auto dealers and repair shops sell more tires, wheel alignments and other “around the wheel” repairs.

But there’s more to NADA than just the exhibits. There is also a full program of workshops and guest speakers. Here are the four keynotes:

Jim Gaffigan

Friday, January 27
Gaffigan is a stand-up comedian, actor and writer, including two New York Times best-selling books, Dad Is Fat, and Food: A Love Story. He recently wrapped up the first season of his semi-fictitious television show, “The Jim Gaffigan Show,” which has been picked up for a second season. He is one of only 10 comics in history to sell out Madison Square Garden.

Jeff Carlson

Friday, January 27
Carlson is president of Glenwood Springs Ford and Glenwood Springs Subaru in Colorado. He’s also co-owner of Summit Ford in Silverthorne, Colorado. As NADA’s 2016 chairman, Carlson is leading franchised new car dealers through some of the most pressing legislative and regulatory challenges they have faced in years, including attacks on indirect auto financing and the dealer franchise system.

Mark Scarpelli

Saturday, January 28
Scarpelli is NADA’s 2016 vice-chairman, as well as president of Raymond Chevrolet/Kia in Antioch, Illinois. His keynote address will highlight the association’s key priorities for 2017. Scarpelli, a second-generation dealer, worked his way up learning all areas of the dealership. In 1986, he was hired by General Motors as the district sales manager for the Boston zone. Three years later Scarpelli returned to the family-run dealership. He represents Metropolitan Chicago’s franchised new car dealers on NADA’s board of directors.

Amy Purdy

Sunday, January 29
Through poignant and inspirational stories, Purdy informs audiences on how to use their challenges to push past their limits and live life without barriers. She lost her legs, kidneys and spleen to bacterial meningitis at the age of 19. Today, she is a top-ranked adaptive snowboarder, author of the New York Times bestseller On My Own Two Feet, actress, model and clothing designer. Purdy competed on ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” and was the show’s first double-amputee contestant.

NADA also has a full program of workshops. You can find out more here. Tireweb Marketing, publisher of Traction News, will also have a both at NADA. Come and find the team at booth 6110 to find out more about how a good website and digital marketing can improve your business.
