Chrysler picks Kumho Solus for OE on its new minivan

Chrysler’s 2017 Pacifica will come with Kumho Solus TA31 tires as original equipment (OE).

A replacement for the Chrysler Town & Country minivan, the Pacifica is the world’s first electrified minivan. It delivers up to 80 miles per gallon equivalent in city driving. The vehicle was recently named the Family Car of Texas at the Texas Auto Roundup hosted by the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA).

The Kumho Solus TA31 is a premium all-season touring tire.

The OE fitments include 20-inch (245/50 R 20) and 17-inch (235/65 R 17) options.

More information and full technical specifications for the Kumho Solus TA31 can be found here.

Kumho says the Solus TA31’s unique tread block and pattern “reduces road noise and the reinforced block offers exceptional handling and braking on dry roads, which translates into excellent ride comfort.”

The Solus TA31 has wide shoulder blocks to create a soft contact edge with the road for better traction and steering response, including better grip around corners. Its siped, four-groove tread creates gripping surfaces that also evacuate water into the central grooves, away from the tire. The tire has a symmetric tread pattern to lower rolling resistance, which reduces vibrations, noise and fuel consumption.

Chrysler deal recognises Kumho’s expertise

Hyun-Ho Kim, senior vice-president at Kumho Tire, said: “The deal is recognition of our technological prowess and brand power, and we expect it will help enhance our brand recognition in global markets.”

“We will keep enhancing our expertise and brand power for continued partnership with world-renowned car manufacturers and greater global market share.”

The new Chrysler Pacifica is now available in the U.S. and Canada. Kumho has been an official OE tire supplier to FCA US for a variety of models beginning with the Chrysler Sebring in 2006.
