Check out this tire worth $150,000; It has diamonds
We’re used to seeing a bit of “bling” at the world’s biggest automotive shows, but it’s not every day you find yourself staring at a tire so expensive it’s locked in a glass cabinet.
But, at the REIFEN Show in Germany this week, that’s exactly what happened.
European tire manufacturer Zenises had, on its stand, a solitary tire worth a cool $150,000. It’s called the Z1 and it’s technically part of the company’s Z Tyre range.
Why? Well that racing check is 24 carat gold and that “Z” is made from specially selected diamond stones.
The tire was decorated with the assistance of a prominent Italian artisan jeweler, Joailler Prive. The gold leaf was applied in the United Arab Emirates by the same craftsman who decorated the new presidential palace in Abu Dhabi.
A set of four tires costing $600,000, it’s perhaps no surprise the Guinness Book of Records has recognised the Z1 as “the World’s Most Expensive Set of Car Tires.”
But why have they done it? Harjeev Kandhari, chief executive of Z Tyre parent company Zenises said: “We’ve always treasured the outstanding skills and dedication involved in developing our Z Tyre range so we thought what better way to celebrate this achievement than with a record-breaking special set of tires?”
“By displaying such ornate craftsmanship we not only want to draw attention to this magnificent centerpiece but also celebrate the true intrinsic worth of the Z Tyre range — delivering safety and performance on the roads of Europe every day.
“It really is a tire to treasure.”
So, maybe you’d like to buy a set for that special person in your life this Christmas?
