Bridgestone announced that it has been selected for inclusion in the FTSE4Good Index Series, a widely recognized environmental, social, and governance (ESG) investment index.
This index is comprised of companies that implement superior ESG risk countermeasures and is designed for the purpose of promoting investment that emphasizes corporate ESG initiatives.
In March 2017, the Bridgestone Group launched its global Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. The program organizes Bridgestone’s CSR efforts under three Priority Areas: Mobility, People and Environment to improve the way people move, live, work and play through innovation and technology. Along with these Priority Areas, the Group continues to strengthen the basic governance, compliance and behavioral characteristics expected of any responsible company through its Management Fundamentals.
The Bridgestone Group, Bridgestone Corporation and its consolidated subsidiaries, has set medium-term environmental targets to be accomplished by 2020 and is advancing efforts to reduce CO2 emissions and water consumption accordingly. In addition, the Group is moving forward with procurement activities aimed at improving the environment, society, and the economy over the long-term based on the Global Sustainable Procurement Policy, which was established in February 2018 to promote sustainable procurement.
